Intial Ideas

HOW I CREATED MY DIGIPAK

Inspiration for my Digipak

Front cover of Digipak

Once I started creating my Digipak, I was unsure of what I actually wanted to do.

For my front cover I found this image and just put the artist name on the front cover. I know, quite boring.

I played around with creating this Imagine. In order for it to look more intersting than the original image on the left.

Back Cover of Digipak

Original image.

When creating my Digipak my intial ideas were to play on the indie convention of flower, using black and white scale and playing on the ideas of nature (but not completely).

I first changed the image by change the tone, contrast and colour. And final adjusting the curve of the picture which lead me to what I thought my final product would be (two picture on the right).

I then began to add th tracklist, but later realised I didn't actually need to write 'tracklist'.

Mid-section of the Cover

I first found this beautiful swan picture and instantly feel in love with it and I knew I had to have iy in my digipak. (Top left). The process I took that held me get to the picture (bottom right). I first ajusted the curves by using the R&G tap and to change the output and then the input.

I then changed the contrast of the image and messed around with the colours and tone. I changed the tone because the image was a bit to light at first, which i didnt like so I changed the contrast which darkened the picture a bit.

I then changed the contrast again which have the picture a bit more if a cartoon affect. I later changed the exposure of the picture to 1.28 which added to the cartoon affect I liked, however, it also gave it a nice and natural feeling.

Lastly, I changed and then addd a new layer on the curves, which made it look amazing, especially around the swans neck which created a high definition. I then played around with the curves again and changed the tone and that created my final prduct on the right (bottom hand corner).

CREATING THE FINAL DIGIPAK - step by step process

I started with a simple white background with flying cartoon birds.

I then placed a bakground in the centre

I enlarged the picture for it to be the background and no I need to change the colours and tone of the background because I feel right now it look a bit like a gospel album with the bright colours, which I feel does not match the Indie genre.

I had two front cover ideas I really liked and after very hard thought and feedback from other I went with the image on the right. However, I made some improvement it it.

The orignial picture and what the outcome.

I also did not like the black animated bird I had used for the digi pak so I go a picture of two real birds, cut them out and put them onto a new photoshop page to create the images below.
